To business, IT is no longer just a tool, but a strategy. Information service and management procedures have gradually merged into business management processes. Companies depend more and more on business information systems, investing and spending on IT while reducing vulnerability and threats from system expansion. How can CIOs make full use of IT resources? How can we manage the data and platform that we rely on? How do we keep risks to a minimum? CIOs must manage and balance IT and business, IT investment values, IT risks, IT performance leadership, organization and process.

Healthcare

Announcement of a new medical reform will provide a huge market for public health systems. Because of this, the Ministry of Health has placed informatization on the top of its list of priorities. IT professionals and members of the medical community have pushed for reform in the areas of basic medicare, prescriptions, health insurance, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies. CIOs in healthcare will have to balance between those who "push" and who "use" in order to succeed.

Manufacturing

Refreshing traditional industries by informatization leads the way to modern industrialization. Manufacturing organizations in the U.S. realized this when competing Japanese rivals and, thus, a nationwide strategy - "swift manufacturing" was adopted. To the manufacturing sector in China, swift manufacturing is the most effective path to compete in the global market. Integrated information application is at the core of swift manufacturing, and information flows constantly between production, engineering, marketing, purchasing, financial, warehousing, sales and R&D. More over, information must also flow between manufacturers and their suppliers to help them react rapidly to real-time market needs.

Cloud Computing

Today, cloud computing is popularized in commercial application by large corporations such as Amazon e-business, Google, and the U.S. Meteorology Department. In order to give Chinese CIOs a better understanding about cloud computing, its application, its potential advantages and its challenge to traditional IT structure, CIO Insight China will invite experts, scholars and representatives from business to have a discussion about cloud computing in full detail. This track will cover the challenge and opportunity of the cloud computing application, its basic structure and its ROI. We hope such a discussion will give the Chinese CIOs a better understanding about the value of cloud computing through interpretation of its concept, its application and its technical benefits.
